The 2014 season marks Doug Dascenzo's first on the Braves' Major League coaching staff. He previously served as the organization's minor league roving outfield/baserunning instructor. In his
previous role, Dascenzo oversaw the outfield play and baserunning aspects for all minor league teams in the Braves farm system.

Dascenzo, 49, joined the Braves organization from the San Diego Padres, where he spent 13 seasons
as a manager and coach in their farm system, including his last two at the helm of the Double-A San
Antonio Missions (2010-11). Dascenzo's 2011 club completed the season with a 94-46 record, posting the most wins in the minor leagues in 2011 and the second-most in franchise history, second only to the 1908 team that won 95 games. Dascenzo also led his team to the Texas League Championship, en route to being named the Texas League Manager of the Year and Baseball America's Double-A Manager of the Year.

Dascenzo totaled six seasons as a minor league manager in the Padres farm system and twice earned
co-Manager of the Year awards. His first honor came in 2006 in his inaugural season as a manger, and he was awarded his second in 2009. In 2009, he was also tabbed by Baseball America as the Midwest League's Best Manager Prospect after leading Class-A Fort Wayne to its first championship in franchise history and a 94-46 finish, the best record in all of Minor League Baseball that season.

Dascenzo's coaching career began with the Padres in 1999 as an outfield/baserunning coordinator, a
position he held for seven seasons.

The former outfielder helped Oklahoma State University to the College World Series in 1984 and
1985, and was a 12th-round draft pick by the Chicago Cubs. He played parts of seven Major League seasons with Chicago (1988 to 1992), Texas (1993) and San Diego (1996).

Dascenzo and his wife Patricia reside in Uniontown, Pa., with their four children: Zachary, Casey,
Haley, and Corey. Zachary was drafted by the Padres in 2008.
