  • Platt Bridge Construction

Due to its deteriorating condition, PennDOT began a $42.8 million project in May 2011 to rehabilitate and paint the three-span Platt Bridge over the Schuylkill River and its 90 approach spans on Route 291/Penrose Avenue. The single-lane traffic pattern on the Platt Bridge is in effect 24 hours a day, 7 days a week through June 2014 as crews perform a number of operations to rehabilitate the deteriorating bridge that dates back to the early 1950s.

If you are involved in an accident on the Platt Bridge, please call 911 immediately. There is a tow truck on duty 24 hours a day. PennDOT urges motorists to log onto 511pa.com or call 511 from any phone to check traffic conditions on major highways before heading out.
