|MLBPA News Release|
The Major League Baseball Players Association today announced that its general membership -- through a secret ballot distributed during Spring Training and through online voting -- has overwhelmingly confirmed the Dec. 3, 2013, decision of the executive board to name Tony Clark as its executive director.
Last December, during its annual meeting, the executive board voted unanimously to promote Clark to executive director, pending a vote of the general membership. Prior to the board's December decision, Clark, 41, had been serving as the MLBPA's acting executive director following the passing of former executive director Michael Weiner on Nov. 21.
"I am honored to receive the support of the general membership in confirming my appointment as executive director," said Clark. "I look forward to working on behalf of the fraternity of all players, and to building on Michael's vision and the proud traditions and accomplished history of the Players Association."
