MLBPA and Polar Mobile plan to launch a series of mobile initiatives, including apps that connect fans with their favorite big leaguers.
"Mobile is clearly a platform that not only our players are enthusiastic about but one that the fans are deeply engaged with," said Michael Amin, MLBPA category director of interactive media. "We chose Polar Mobile as our partner given their clear leadership and experience combining sports and mobile technology. We look forward to working with Polar to use these new platforms to further connect fans with their favorite players."
Polar Mobile is the global leader in helping sports media brands take advantage of mobile platforms. With a client base that includes The Hockey News, Pro Football Weekly, the Toronto Maple Leafs and, most recently, the National Hockey League Players Association and NFL Players Association, Polar Mobile has launched more than 750 mobile Apps for 300 publishers in 10 countries.
"We have learned how to give fans a great experience to stay engaged with sports brands on their mobile devices," says Kunal Gupta, CEO of Polar Mobile. "We are proud that the MLBPA has chosen to partner with Polar Mobile, as the opportunity to build and monetize a passionate following on mobile platforms is exciting".
The first set of mobile apps for the MLBPA will feature an integrated Twitter feed of all MLB players active on the social media site, allowing fans to easily stay connected. The apps will all be available directly from the respective app stores for iPhone, BlackBerry, Android and Windows smartphones.
