Jason Bartlett: Tacos for everyone
Get your free Taco on Oct. 28 thanks to the Rays shortstop
When I was running back out to the field for defense after the fifth inning, I was told that Taco Bell was going to give everyone in America a free taco. The first thing that crossed my mind was all of my buddies back home in California who were probably on their way to Taco Bell that very minute.
It's pretty cool. I'm sure I'm going to get more than a few text messages from my friends thanking me for winning them a taco, I guess.
I love Taco Bell. We go to Taco Bell all the time. The nacho-cheese chalupa was always my big thing in college at the University of Oklahoma. I used to get that every time. I think it was the No. 2 on the menu. I've branched out since then and I try a lot of items on the menu these days.
When everyone goes to get their free tacos on Oct. 28, I plan to be right with them on line to get my own taco. It will be just the first of many times this offseason that I stop by my local Taco Bell, that's for sure.
Rays shortstop Jason Bartlett stole second base in the fifth inning of Game 1 to trigger a Taco Bell promotion called "Steal a Base, Steal a Taco." Anyone in the United States can get a free Crunchy Seasoned Beef Taco by visiting a participating Taco Bell restaurant on Oct. 28 between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. local time.
