With a strong finish to August, Johnny Damon declared that he and his Yankees teammates are well prepared for a playoff run in the final weeks of the regular season.
"We have 30 more games left and I think we can do it," Damon said in this week's Players Talk Live segment prior to the Yankees' Wednesday night victory over the Red Sox. "Everyone in the clubhouse feels like any way we can get in the playoffs would be a benefit.
"Of course we would like to catch the Red Sox, but we know seven games is a lot in that much time -- but it feels like everything is coming together and hopefully I can be a big part of it."
Damon, who followed a two-run homer in Tuesday night's win with a two-run single to help beat the Red Sox on Wednesday, is hitting .325 in August. The Yankees have won 14 of the 16 games he has started in left field.
