John Smoltz cruised along until the sixth, when Washington reached him for three runs. Adam LaRoche's RBI single and Pete Orr's pinch-hit homer brought Atlanta back to within one, but Macay McBride yielded a two-run homer in the eighth, sealing another tough-luck loss for Smoltz.
