ATLANTA – The Atlanta Braves and the Baseball Fantasy Camp for Kids will host a baseball clinic for local youth from Miracle League teams this Saturday, August 17 at Hunter Memorial Park in Douglasville, GA from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. The clinic will be led by Atlanta Braves players and will focus on providing a day full of baseball activities for the Miracle League children to participate in. The Miracle League is a baseball league for youth players who are physically and mentally challenged and provides a safe and spirited opportunity to hit, run and catch on a baseball field – just like any other kids.
Representing Peachtree City, Dalton, Lovejoy, Macon, Augusta, Douglasville and Atlanta Miracle Leagues, 57 children will receive instruction from Braves infielder Paul Janish, pitchers Anthony Varvaro and Alex Wood, and Braves coach Phil Falco on hitting, fielding, catching, throwing and the importance of physical fitness. Each Miracle League player will receive a Braves jersey, Braves cap and two tickets to the Braves vs. Nationals game that evening.
The Mayor of Douglasville, Harvey Parsons, will join the festivities with a special welcome message to all the attendees.
“With the founding headquarters of the Miracle League here in our own backyard, it is important for the Atlanta Braves to serve this extraordinary organization,” said Atlanta Braves Director of Community Affairs Ericka Newsome. “We are proud to lend our time to share the great game of baseball with children of all abilities."
Since its inception in 1992, the Atlanta Braves Foundation has provided support and resources to thousands of metro Atlanta-based organizations and has contributed more than $5 million in financial assistance to the community. Through the generous support of Braves players and staff, sponsors and fans, the Atlanta Braves Foundation continuously strives to improve the quality of life for our youth.
