Braves Promote Rick Slate to Director of Strength and Conditioning
Atlanta Braves Executive Vice President and General Manager Frank Wren announced today at Baseball’s annual Winter Meetings that Rick Slate has been promoted to the position of Director of Strength and Conditioning. He served as the Braves’ Minor League Strength and Conditioning Coordinator in 2012.
Slate, who has more than 20 years of professional baseball service, will oversee all aspects of the Braves’ strength and conditioning program throughout all levels of the organization.
Slate spent eight years (2003-10) as the major league strength and conditioning coordinator for the New York Mets, and prior to that he served the same role with the Florida Marlins for nine seasons (1993-2001). He began his baseball career in the Marlin’s minor league system in 1992 and was the strength and conditioning coordinator at Florida State University from 1987 to 1991.
