Braves acquire outfielder Barton
Reliever Boyer dealt to Cards for Minor Leaguer

Barton played in 82 games with the Cardinals last year, hitting .268 with two homers and 13 RBIs and will go to Triple-A Gwinnett. Braves manager Bobby Cox said Barton can play all three outfield positions.
"I saw him play occasionally," Cox said. "[He's a] pretty gifted kid."
Barton was on the disabled list twice last year, thanks to a fractured right wrist (July 6-Aug. 14) and a right oblique strain (Aug. 25-Sept. 9).
He's also done well away from the field, needing one more semester of work to finish his degree in aerospace engineering. Barton's also done internships with NASA and Boeing.
Boyer appeared in three games for the Braves this season before being designated for assignment last Saturday. He allowed six runs in 1 1/3 innings on three hits with three walks. Boyer has a career record of 6-9 with a 5.46 ERA in 129 games, and Cox said a change of scenery could help the right-hander.
