Johnson exited at the beginning of the fourth inning, and Martin Prado replaced him at second base. The Braves announced his status as day-to-day, and the second baseman believes Tuesday's off-day could be enough for him to return on Wednesday.
Before exiting, Johnson singled and scored during a three-run third inning. He said that he aggravated the knee while scoring from first base on Yunel Escobar's two-run triple.
"He wanted to keep going," said Braves manager Bobby Cox, who opted to use caution and remove Johnson.
Over the past few weeks, Johnson has been bothered by some discomfort in the right knee. When asked about it on Sunday and again on Monday, he said it was something that he dealt with throughout the majority of last season.
"It just didn't bounce back today like it has been," Johnson said.
