The Atlanta Braves will host 26 of the organization's prospects at the inaugural Braves Rookie Development Week, from January 18 to January 22. In addition to providing training, the program is intended to introduce the prospects to the Turner Field environment and to the Atlanta community.
The daily sessions will take place at Turner Field and will include morning workouts and instruction from the major and minor league staff, guest speakers in the early afternoon, community relations visits in the late afternoon and various activities throughout the Atlanta area in the evening. Players will throw and hit in the indoor batting cages and outside (weather permitting).
Current Braves players Tim Hudson, Brian McCann and Jason Heyward will speak to the prospects about a variety of topics on Thursday afternoon, while Chipper Jones will meet with them at Saturday's final session.
The prospects will make community relations visits on Wednesday and Friday and will tour the Martin Luther King Center on Thursday. They will attend the Georgia Tech men's basketball game on Wednesday, the Atlanta Hawks basketball game on Friday and the Atlanta Thrashers hockey game on Saturday.
