ATLANTA -- The Atlanta Braves announced today that Dayton Moore has been promoted to the position of Assistant General Manager/Baseball Operations.
Moore, 38, has been in the Braves organization since 1994. In 2002, he was named Director of Player Personnel and since then has been responsible for overseeing all aspects of scouting and player development.
"The remarkable success of our organization the past 15 years has been the result of contributions made by key personnel," said Braves' Executive Vice President and General Manager John Schuerholz. "This promotion recognizes the excellent work that Dayton has done in the Scouting and Player Development departments and the high regard we have for his administrative skills. I am extremely fortunate to work with two top baseball executives like Dayton Moore and Frank Wren (Vice President/Assistant General Manager) in the operation of the Braves organization."
Moore originally joined the Braves staff as a scouting supervisor for the Mid-Atlantic states and was promoted to the front office in August 1996 as an assistant in the Baseball Operations Department. He was named Assistant Director of Scouting in November of 1996. In 1999, Moore worked as the Assistant Director of Scouting and Assistant Director of Player Development. He was promoted to Director of International Scouting during the 2000 baseball season.
