The Orioles today announced the addition of DAVID ROVINE as Vice President of Orioles-Sarasota to oversee the club's Sarasota business affairs and community development. In his new role, Rovine will represent the Orioles in the Sarasota County community, furthering the club's presence through OriolesREACH and its many community programs and establishing and cultivating club partnerships with business, civic, charitable and non-profit organizations throughout the Greater Sarasota County and Gulf Coast regions.

In that capacity, Rovine will oversee the Orioles combined complex (located at the Ed Smith Stadium and Twin Lakes Park sites), which is devoted to presenting Orioles baseball games, generating other sports and entertainment events that promote area tourism and provide substantial economic impact in Sarasota and throughout the region, and hosting year-round athletic training through the Orioles Major League and Minor League Spring Training, Extended Minor League Spring Training, Summer Gulf Coast League, Fall Instructional League, and other athletic rehabilitation programs.

A native of Baltimore and graduate of Towson (MD) University, Rovine has extensive experience in marketing and venue management. He spent seven years with SMG Entertainment, a worldwide entertainment and convention venue management company. In his roles as General Manager of the Mahaffey Theater in St. Petersburg and the Genesee Theatre in Waukegan, Illinois, Rovine was responsible for day-to-day operations, marketing and talent booking for these historic venues. Rovine's experience also includes nearly nine years as Director of Marketing at Gulfstream Park in Hallandale Beach, where he oversaw advertising and promotion and was responsible for attracting and coordinating concerts and other non-racing events.

Established in 1954, the Baltimore Orioles are a professional baseball team based in Baltimore, Maryland and playing in the Eastern Division of the American League of Major League Baseball. The Orioles' home field is Oriole Park at Camden Yards, which is regarded as one of the finest sports facilities in the world and recently welcomed a record 50 million fans in its first 17 seasons. Orioles games are carried to approximately 18 million fans residing throughout the Mid-Atlantic region in six states and the District of Columbia by the club's subsidiary Mid-Atlantic Sports Network (MASN) and by the 35-station Orioles Radio Network.

The Orioles have been a part of the Sarasota community for more than two decades, operating an athletic training center at Twin Lakes Park since 1991. In 2009, the Orioles and Sarasota County began a 30-month construction project to renovate the training center at Twin Lakes Park and the ballpark and training center at Ed Smith Stadium in order to consolidate the Orioles' Major and Minor League year round operations. The project has created nearly 500 local jobs and nearly $54 million in construction-related economic impact. In addition, the club's year round events and athletic training program generates another $35 to $50 million in annual economic tourism impact throughout the Sarasota community while also providing a multi-platform, multimedia marketing package valued at more than $1 million annually for the benefit of Visit Sarasota County, the County's tourism development arm, that is used to promote tourism in Greater Sarasota among residents of the team's Mid-Atlantic territory.

The Orioles have made eleven postseason appearances, winning three World Series, six American League Championships, six Division titles, and two Wild Card titles, most recently reaching the playoffs in 2012 as the American League Wild Card and advancing to the American League Division Series. From 1960 through 1997, the Orioles recorded the highest winning percentage in all of Major League Baseball.

Off the field, through OriolesREACH, the Orioles have established numerous new community support initiatives while also partnering with several existing charities and organizations. The Baltimore Orioles Charitable Foundation and Baltimore Orioles, Inc. have donated more than ten million dollars to charities since the ownership group headed by Peter Angelos purchased the team in 1993.
