Sammons' two homers spark Braves
Catcher drives in four runs as Atlanta produces 21-hit attack

Braves at the plate: Catcher Clint Sammons hit two two-run home runs to lead Atlanta. He went 2-for-4 with four RBIs and is hitting .462 (6-for-13) this spring. Jordan Schafer went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and Jeff Francoeur went 2-for-2 with two RBIs. Matt Diaz went 2-for-3 with one RBI, Yunel Escobar went 2-for-4 and Diory Hernandez went 2-for-3.

Phillies at the plate: Jason Donald, who went 3-for-4 to raise his Grapefruit League average to .379, hit a leadoff single in the first. Raul Ibanez, who went 2-for-3, singled two batters later to score him. John Mayberry Jr. hit a solo homer in the fourth inning, his third of the Grapefruit League season. He went 2-for-3 and is hitting .290.
Braves on the mound: Left-hander Jo-Jo Reyes allowed four hits, two runs and one home run in four innings. He also struck out four. Jeff Bennett allowed five hits and five runs in just one-third of an inning to give him a 14.54 ERA this spring.
Phillies on the mound: Kyle Kendrick, who is fighting for the fifth spot in the rotation, did not help his cause in three-plus innings. He allowed 10 hits, eight runs, one walk, two home runs and committed a balk. After two-run home runs by Sammons in the second and fourth innings, Reyes followed with a double and a single, respectively. Gary Majewski allowed three hits and two runs (one earned) in one inning. Scott Eyre threw a scoreless inning, and Ryan Madson allowed three hits and one run in one inning.
Grapefruit League records: Braves 9-2; Phillies 4-7.
Up next: The Braves host the Nationals on Thursday at 1:05 p.m. ET in Lake Buena Vista, Fla. Right-hander Jair Jurrjens, closer Mike Gonzalez and highly regarded prospect Kris Medlen are scheduled to pitch.
The Phillies travel to Port Charlotte, Fla., for the first time to play former Phils slugger Pat Burrell and the Rays on Thursday at 1:05 p.m. Left-handers Jamie Moyer and J.A. Happ are slated to pitch for Philadelphia.
