ATLANTA -- Chipper Jones aggravated his bruised right hand injury during Wednesday's loss to the Astros in Game 1 of the National League Division Series.

But while Jones explained the discomfort he was feeling in his ailing hand, he said that he fully the expects to play in Thursday's Game 2, which is somewhat of a must-win game for the Braves.

"It's going to have to be awfully, awfully painful for me not to play," Jones said.

Jones aggravated the injury while diving to grab a Morgan Ensberg grounder in the fifth inning. He remained in the game, but ended up hitless in four at-bats.

"It's just tough to turn the knob of the bat when you're going up against a Roger Clemens fastball," Jones said in reference to the Astros right-hander, who earned the Game 1 victory.

Jones, who suffered the injury when he was hit with a Carlos Zambrano pitch on Saturday, plans to arrive at the stadium early on Thursday to receive treatment. But he's not sure whether he'll test his hand during batting practice.

"I think the less I do, the better I'll be," Jones said. "Because the more I swing, the sorer it gets."
