
Maybe best known around baseball for his demonstrative personality on the mound, Carpenter is the heart and soul of the Cardinals' pitching staff. He's the example the young pitchers follow, the guy who keeps everybody in line. He's also a former hockey player from New Hampshire — not surprisingly, he was a defenseman who liked to hit.
