76Bettis, ChadTexas TechRHPR/R6'01"1951989-04-26JR
Comments: Bettis has had more success as a reliever than as a starter, particularly last summer as Team USA's closer, and that's likely where he'll find his future role. Bettis has a plus fastball, a hard breaking ball and a changeup at his disposal, though sometimes mechanical issues flatten out his stuff and make him hittable. He does go right after hitters, and being shortened up for an inning or two should help his stuff play up. Texas Tech moved him back into a relief role (if he didn't relieve on Friday or Saturday, he would start on Sunday) and that could help his Draft status. Even if he doesn't close at the next level, he could be a pretty productive setup guy.

470Swanner, WilliamLa Costa Canyon HS (CA)CR/R6'02"1851991-09-10HS
Comments: Swanner intrigues scouts with his hitting ability, especially if he can stay behind the plate defensively. With a good approach and nice swing at the plate, his bat is very projectable for average and power. He moves well behind the plate, and it looks like he could fill out and not lose that flexibility. His overall catching shows glimpses, but it's unclear whether he'll be able to stick behind the plate long-term. The good news is he's athletic enough to handle another position, and his bat looks like it could play just about anywhere. That should be enough to get him off the board within the first few rounds.
