The Spirit of Larry Doby

The Cleveland Indians are committed to developing and maintaining an environment that embraces diversity to enrich our core values, enhance our competitive position, strengthen our economic impact, and foster a respectful appreciation for the local and global communities in which we operate.

What Is Diversity?

We define diversity as the inclusion of people differing from one another. Our organization appreciates that individuality incorporates differences in experiences, talents, and perspectives and that the distinctiveness of each person goes beyond race, gender, religion, ethnicity, national origin, language, physical ability, sexual orientation, age, education level, geographic origin, and socio-economic status. We are committed to embracing diversity in its most inclusive sense.

Meaning of Diversity/Inclusion for Cleveland and Baseball:

Cultivating a culture of diversity and inclusion is vital to the success of any community, corporation or relationship. It is only by actively embracing and celebrating the unique and special differences within each of us that we can reach our true potential as a society. In order for us as individuals, our corporations and our communities to flourish, we must work tirelessly each day to create a better understanding and appreciation for every person, no matter how different they may appear to be.
