Major League Baseball created the Arizona Fall League in 1992 to operate as a centralized, developmental league each off-season. The Arizona Fall League is a major training resource for Major League Baseball and its 30 clubs in the development of future Major League players, managers, coaches and umpires. Upon entering its 18th season beginning in October 2009, the Arizona Fall League had served as a "graduate school" for more than 1,700 Major League players, including 141 All-Stars, and many of the managers, coaches and umpires throughout Major League Baseball today.
