2015 TRAINEE PROGRAM

2013 Atlanta Braves Trainees

The Atlanta Braves Trainee Program is designed for applicants who are interested in beginning a career in professional sports. Each year, the program attempts to hire individuals from around the nation with diverse backgrounds who are ambitious, intelligent and creative candidates to work in a department from January to November. This opportunity provides valuable experience in the day-to-day operations of a professional sports franchise, and it not only gives the opportunity to work in a Front Office environment, but also to build a network with those in the sports industry who can provide guidance, advice, and possible connections for job opportunities upon completion of the program.

The Atlanta Braves Trainee Program is open to any qualified applicant who has a college degree and a GPA of at least a 3.0 at graduation. Trainees are expected to work at least 37.5 hours per week and may have additional game day responsibilities (depending on department assignments). The individuals who participate in this program are paid $9.50/hour, plus overtime if applicable, but are not entitled to benefits (i.e. insurance, vacation, etc.)

Online applications for the Trainee Program are available from October 1st through October 31st each year.

General Requirements for ALL Trainee positions:
College graduate, Bachelors or Masters, with a GPA of at least a 3.0 at graduation
Excellent written, verbal and communication skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Power Point and Excel)
Customer service oriented
Excellent executive presence
Ability to work long hours, weekends and holidays
Digital Marketing Trainee

Position description includes but is not limited to:
  • Managing the schedule of all outbound digital communication, including emails, online ads, paid media campaigns and social
  • Coordinate the development and production of all digital marketing assets
  • Partner with the design agency, internal stakeholders, and MLBAM on the development and updating of pages for braves.com
  • Lead the delivery of digital content for publishing on Braves.com and the At the Ballpark app
  • Execute the delivery of digital marketing assets to internal and external parties
  • Organize and populate the daily, weekly and monthly analytics reporting for our digital activities
  • Partner with the Digital team on the procurement and curation of social media content, with a specific focus on in-game activities
  • Assist in development of direct marketing campaigns utilizing Microsoft Dynamics CRM
  • All other duties as assigned

Entertainment Trainee

Position description includes but is not limited to:
  • Assistant tothe Director of Game Entertainment
  • Process and Log Project Request forms and Production Requests
  • Assist in preparing rundowns, scripts and other material for game day operation
  • Assist Entertainment Manager in executing on field and in stand game day production elements
  • Other duties as assigned by Director

Production Trainee

Position description includes but is not limited to:
  • Assist full-time production staff in daily technical operations of the Audio/Vide
  • Department
  • Perform production assistant duties for all production
  • Hands on training in broadcast and sports entertainment production, including live and pre-produced environments
In addition to the general requirements, the ideal candidate will possess:
  • Must be interested in sports television production, emphasis in baseball entertainment
  • College courses taken related to broadcast and television production
  • Ability to multi-task and work independently
  • Basic knowledge of vide
  • camera operation, lighting, and audio

Promotions Trainee

Position description includes but is not limited to:
  • Assist Sr. Manager of Promotions with departmental responsibilities
  • Supervise and schedule Promotions Staff
  • Assist with the management of Family Zone, Scouts Alley, Coke Skyfield and Gates
  • Assist with administrative promotional material
  • Provide weekly status reports
  • Track and distribute promotional items in stadium
  • Coordinate Plaza stage set-up/breakdown

Media Relations/Baseball Information Trainee

Position description includes but is not limited to:
  • Assist PR staff with daily media requests such as statistical research, player interviews and photo shoots
  • Collect and distribute the Braves' daily press clippings
  • Assist with research projects for the media guide and daily game notes
  • Assist with press box operations during games
  • Help other departments (Community Relations, Baseball Ops, etc.) to promote Braves Baseball
In addition to the general requirements, the ideal candidate will possess:
  • Significant background and experience in baseball PR or college athletic communications, sports information, etc.
  • Superior knowledge of baseball rules and baseball history
  • Strong organizational skills and an ability to adapt to unforeseen changes in the daily schedule/routine
Guest Services Trainee

Position description includes but is not limited to:
  • Support Guest Services Management with overall departmental responsibilities and initiatives
  • Assist in areas of gameday staff recruiting, hiring, training & recognition programs
  • Replying to fan inquiries in person, writing and via telephone
  • Send Braves memorabilia to fans for special occasions
  • Manage distribution list for gameday staff & field surveys
  • Assist in ballpark improvements including but not limited to signage & staff areas
  • Edit Web pages & update gameday staff materials such as guidebooks and training resources
  • Distribute information & supplies for pre-game gameday staff
  • Manage the scheduling and attendance for Guest Relations gameday staff
  • Assist with coordinating the Braves VIP Experience programs including the special circumstance grant program, VIP Meet and Greets, VIP Backstage Pass, VIP Road Trip & VIP Spring Training
  • Design, write and edit Gameday Staff bi-monthly newsletter
  • Assist with event planning, set-up and execution for gameday staff events throughout season
  • Design & print gameday credentials for all internal departments
  • Manage the Lost & Found process
  • Assist with management of Gameday Staff Store with staffing, inventory and store design opportunities

Publications Trainee

Position description includes but is not limited to:
  • Assist with production and assembling content of print pieces throughout the season
  • Responsible for writing various editorials to be included in publications
  • Work directly with printer regarding changes, proofing, deadlines and distribution
  • Interact closely with other departments regarding content included in publications
  • Secure images from various Braves archives and sources to be used in publications
  • Assist with collecting and distributing Braves' daily press clippings
  • Help Media Relations with game day press box duties
  • Help Media Relations with daily clips (rotated between trainees)

Community Affairs Trainee

Position description includes but is not limited to:
  • Assist with planning and implementing community affairs and Braves Foundation programs and fundraisers as needed. Programs to include scholarships, community leader awards, food drives, reading programs, clinics, etc.
  • Facilitate silent auctions on game nights and at special events
  • Coordinate non-profit organizations for 50/50 raffle events
  • Assist with Clubhouse access/autograph signings
  • Manage database for auction item requests and internal requests
  • Manage matrix message program (birthdays, anniversaries, etc)
In addition to the general requirements, the ideal candidate will possess:
  • Multi-tasking skills a must

Marketing Trainee

Position description includes but is not limited to:
  • Actively participate in brainstorming sessions related to proposed marketing projects
  • Assist in day-of-event operations with Marketing, Promotions, Operations which includes the B.A.T. Team, events, and promotions
  • Assist the marketing manager in general market media trafficking and tracking
  • Provide weekly updates on projects
  • Assist in efforts of multi-cultural marketing by identifying grass roots opportunities, researching event marketing opportunities including Spanish language messaging and campaigns
  • Assist the fan development coordinator by managing fan mail, processing BAT Team appearance requests and database management
  • Engage in inter-departmental project management as needs dictate
  • Conduct research for various department projects
  • Drive to B.A.T. Team events in the company truck or SUV; valid driver's license required

Ticket Sales Trainee

Position description includes but is not limited to:
  • Provide superior customer service to all clients including existing ticket holders, prospects and single game customers
  • Responsible for generating revenue through the sale of season tickets, mini plans, group tickets, and single game suite rentals to corporate clients and individuals
  • Facilitate sales and service through inbound calls while actively managing various outbound call campaigns and hitting weekly call goals
  • Tasked with creating and implementing a group ticket sales project
  • Perform numerous gameday duties which include solving ticket issues, generating sales, and providing customer service
  • All other duties as assigned

Special Events Trainee

Position description includes but is not limited to:
  • Update weekly availability of rental space, distribution of the monthly calendar to Braves Front Office personnel and producing Special Events MLB reports for the legal department
  • Return incoming calls regarding availability of rental spaces
  • Book rental space and communicate policies and procedures to potential clients about the venue
  • Assist with coordinating mass mailings and email blasts throughout the year
  • Keep clients informed of changes regarding special events and provide customer service support (i.e. faxing/mailing requested information/answering client questions and distribution of logistical information)
  • Assist with event set-up (equipment, tables/chairs, etc.)
  • Other duties include providing support to marketing-related functions, such as tradeshows, expos and other networking events
  • Research other venues so the department can stay updated on not only local venues but also other major league baseball park special events

Corporate Partnerships Trainee - Sales

Position description includes but is not limited to:
  • Assist the Corporate Partnership department in all areas including sales support
  • Draft PowerPoint sales proposals
  • Conduct background research on prospective sponsors
  • Provide daily news clips on all sponsors
  • Utilize Scarborough research software to support sales proposals
  • Attend outside sporting events to log partners of those respective teams, and other sales related duties as assigned
  • Assist in coordinating VIP field visits and first pitch ceremonies, hospitality parties, clinics, and other sponsor special events

Corporate Partnerships Trainee - Service

Position description includes but is not limited to:
  • Assist the Partnership Services department in all areas including, service fulfillment and execution of special events.
  • Merchandising (VIP Field Visits, First Pitches, pre-game presentations, suite nights), tickets/ticket requests, parking, print advertising, radio advertising, in-park recognition, in-game features, signage, gate giveaways, game-day/season-long promotions, Community Affairs programs, hospitality parties, youth baseball clinics, sponsor special events, drafting PowerPoint presentations and maintaining contact database, etc.
  • Will be responsible for placing catering orders for corporate partner luxury suite outings, maintaining signage exposure logs and managing departmental photograph library.
  • Year End Reports - keep detailed records of all partner elements and activation programs throughout year. Design, prepare and present comprehensive reports for each sponsor detailing and highlighting all elements included in their agreement as well as any additional exposure received throughout the season.
  • Assist in planning and implementing Sponsor Opening Day party, Sponsor Golf Tournament, Sponsor Batting Practice/Softball game and Sponsor Movie Night.

Position description includes but is not limited to:
  • Assist Stadium Operations and Security Management with overall departmental responsibilities

  • Serve as a liaison between the management teams and seasonal staff committees
  • Assist in the maintenance of Secret Shopper statistics as well as general filing and documentation

Ticket Operations Trainee

Position description includes but is not limited to:
  • Assist the rapid and accurate completion of processing, printing and mailing/shipping in-house, season, group, online package, Student Achiever, Kids Club, and Smart Circle ticket orders.
  • Serve as liaison between Client Services department and Ticket Office with ticketing issues that may arise throughout the day, as well as in the lobby during events.
  • Assist with all aspects of financial reporting within the department.
  • Respond to telephone and e-mail requests regarding tickets from all staff in a professional and timely manner.
  • Serve as window seller and will call attendant during games when needed.
  • Assist with off-site ticket selling events (i.e.: Turner Broadcasting employee sale, etc.)
  • Process and ship ticket orders using UPS machine.
  • Contribute as a team member to the overall success of the Atlanta Braves Ticket Operations Department.
In addition to the general requirements, the ideal candidate will possess:
  • Experience with Archtics and Ticketmaster ticketing systems, Access Manager (FanTM) bar coding system.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs.

Public Relations Trainee

Position description includes but is not limited to:
  • Research media outlets and create specific media lists through our Cision subscription for local and regional markets
  • Write press releases and media alerts
  • Distribute press releases and media alerts to targeted media
  • Send out photos post event to weekly publications or websites for community affairs events/programs
  • Maintain log of media hits with media value for events/corporate partners
  • Send out photos/lightboxes when requested
  • Create pitch ideas for promotional/theme nights/days
  • Travel to some of the Braves Caravan stops to handle media requests
  • Coordinate and assist media who are covering special events at Turner Field or at a community event
  • Other duties as assigned
In addition to the general requirements, the ideal candidate will possess:
  • BA degree in Communications, Journalism or related field
  • Experience in corporate communications (sports experience preferred)
  • Experience in public relations writing and pitching
