Rules for the 5 and 6 Year Old Division

GENERAL RULES OF PLAY: All play will be conducted under National Federation High School rules with the following modifications.

FIELD DIMENSIONS: 50' base paths and 120' to fence all the way around.

PITCHING: There will be three different scenarios for each batter. Scenarios must be designated before the at bat occurs.

  • Coach Pitch: Maximum of five (5) pitches
    *The player cannot strike out. If he swings 4 times and gets a hit on the 5th, it is in play
    *If a foul ball is hit on the 5th pitch the batter is out
  • Coach Pitch/Off of a tee: Maximum of three (3) pitches *If a player does not get a hit, they are allowed two (2) swings off the tee
  • Off the Tee: Maximum of three (3) swings

CLEATS: No metal spikes are allowed.

BATTING ORDER: Continuous batting order with FREE Defensive Substitutions.

BATS: There are no bat restrictions.

BUNTING: No bunting allowed.

STEALING: No stealing or lead offs allowed.

MERCY RULE: 10 runs is the max any team can score during their time at bat each inning.

HOME TEAM DETERMINATION: Home team is determined by flip of the coin.

PROTESTS: There will be a $100.00 fee payable in cash for any protest. You can ONLY Protest a RULE INTERPRETATION!

CONDUCT: Team coaches & managers are responsible for the conduct of parents, players and other team spectators. Use of profanity will not be tolerated. If any manager or head coach is thrown out of any game by the umpire, that manager WILL NOT be eligible to coach/manage in his/her team's next scheduled game. The Tournament Director can override this rule by letting the manager coach in his/her next game if he so chooses. NO ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES ALLOWED.

GAME LENGTH: 3 innings or 45 minutes. NO NEW INNING WILL BEGIN AFTER 40 MINUTES. If at 45 minutes, the home team is batting and ahead, the game is over regardless of score. The remaining innings will not be completed. The score in play at the end of the time limit is final. Umpires will keep official time.

TIE BREAKERS: Games can end in a tie in EVERY GAME except elimination games. Extra innings during elimination games will be played under international rules. Each team will place the last batter out at second base to start the inning.

SEEDING: Tiebreakers for determining seeding will be as follows >> 1. Head-to-Head (IF Applicable); 2. Least Runs Allowed; 3.Run Differential (7-Run MAX); 4. Most Runs Scored (10-Runs MAX); 5. Coin Toss! In the event of a 3 or more way tie, we will determine the Highest Seed using the aforementioned tiebreakers and after ONE team has been eliminated; we will revert back to the FIRST tiebreaker and go from there. This will allow us to use Head-to-Head as a tie-breaker once we get down to 2 or 3 teams.)

OFFICIAL GAME: 3 innings or 40 minutes is considered a complete game. If a game is called before that because of rain or other acts of God and cannot be resumed or played, the game will be canceled and both teams do not receive a win or a loss.

Rules for the 7 and 8 Year Old Division

GENERAL RULES OF PLAY: All play will be conducted under National Federation High School rules with the following modifications.

FIELD DIMENSIONS: There will be two fields throughout the tournament the teams will play on.

Field B: 180’ fences all the way around and base paths will be 60’.

Field 3: 130’ fences all the way around and base paths will be 60’.

The championship game will be played on Field B.

PITCHING: All pitching will come from the coach. There will be no hitting off of a tee. The batter will receive a maximum of 6 pitches. If the batter fouls the 6th pitch or lets it go by he is out. If the batter swings 3 times he is out, or if he fouls off two and swings on any pitch following the batter is out.

BATTING ORDER: There will be a continuous batting order with FREE Defensive Substitutions.

CLEATS: No metal spikes are allowed

BATS: There are no bat restrictions.

BUNTING: No bunting allowed.

The championship game will be played on Field 1.

The championship game will be played on Field C if the field conditions are better than field D at the time. The tournament director will be making the final decision.

PITCHING RULES: There will be no pitching restrictions. (Coaches discretion)

CLEATS: NO cleats are allowed. The field is a turf field. Turf shoes and tennis shoes are allowed.

BATS: There are no bat restrictions.
