Nuestro Campo
Nuestro Campo promotes the enrichment and development of Latino youth in the largely undeserved areas of the Atlanta community. This initiative provides children the opportunity to be a part of a structured sports program that allows them a positive outlet and helps them realize the benefits of physical activity through baseball.
In 2006, the Braves hosted an educational baseball clinic for 50 Latino youth from the Boys and Girls Club of Metro Atlanta and La Amistad. Braves TBS en Espanol broadcaster Pete Manzano served as the Nuestro Campo emcee and his broadcast partner Fernando Palacios lead the hitting instruction for the clinic.
The clinic participants learned about the history of Latino baseball, teamwork, physical fitness, proper nutrition, and received instruction in baseball skills. At each station, instructors spoke about famous Latino baseball players and their accomplishments both on and off the field.
