Atlanta Braves Foundation Grants

Atlanta Braves Foundation Awards grants totaling $87,000 to nineteen metro Atlanta non-profit organizations.
Each year, the Atlanta Braves Foundation grants funds to youth-serving organizations that focus on health, education, and recreation; that have sound financial practices; and whose plans for the requested funds will have a significant impact upon the individuals served by the requesting organization.

The following organizations received grants from the Atlanta Braves Foundation in 2008:

Atlanta Community Food Bank
Atlanta Community Food Bank engages, educates and empowers the community to fight hunger.

Atlanta Habitat for Humanity
Atlanta Habitat for Humanity partners with working families, sponsors and communities to build affordable, green, quality homes and to provide support services that promote successful home purchase and ownership.

Atlanta Track Club
The Atlanta Track Club is dedicated to promoting health and fitness through programs of amateur road racing, cross-country, and track and field in the spirit of fun and competition.

Canine Companions for Independence
Canine Companions enhances the lives of people with disabilities by providing highly trained assistance dogs and ongoing support to ensure quality partnerships.

Children's Healthcare of Atlanta Foundation
The Children's Healthcare of Atlanta Foundation works to enhance the lives of children through excellence in patient care, research and education.

Cobb Christmas, Inc.
Cobb Christmas provides food and gifts at Christmastime to Cobb County's low-income families ensuring the holiday spirit is alive for their client families, donors and volunteers alike.

East Lake Foundation
The East Lake Foundation assists the families of the Villages of East Lake and the children of Charles Drew Charter School, break the cycle of poverty though education, job readiness, affordable housing, and community development.

Greater Georgia Chapter of the Muscular Dystrophy Association
The Muscular Dystrophy Association is a voluntary health agency working to find treatments and cures for forty-three neuromuscular diseases through programs of worldwide research, comprehensive medical and community services and far-reaching professional and public health education.

Latin American Association
The Latin American Association helps Latino families achieve their aspirations for their academic, social and economic advancement. We accomplish this through direct programs and integrated community partnerships that focus on youth academic achievement, education and prevention, and services to families with urgent needs.

L.E.A.D., Inc.
L.E.A.D. embraces the legacy of leadership demonstrated by African American legends in baseball to inspire a new generation of players and coaches to develop and become engaged citizens in their communities and world.

Metro Atlanta Project (M.A.P.)
Metro Atlanta Project is a Christian ministry that empowers teens to reach out to low-income senior citizens in Atlanta by addressing their housing needs.

North Metro Miracle League
The North Metro Miracle League provides inclusive adaptive sports and social programs for children and adults with and without disabilities.

READing Paws, Inc.-Georgia Chapter
READing Paws, Inc. improves the literacy skills of children through the assistance of nationally registered therapy animal-owner/handler teams as literacy mentors.

Star Struck Foundation
Star Struck Foundation provides programs for youth with a focus on mentoring and programming that instills motivation, discipline, high self-esteem, and crucial life-readiness skills in order to build positive goal directed futures.

The Auditory-Verbal Center, Inc.
The Auditory-Verbal Center, Inc. strives to be the premier provider of comprehensive Auditory-Verbal and Audiology services to infants, children, and their families throughout the state of Georgia, while bringing the gift of listening and speaking to people with hearing impairment or hearing loss.

The Ron Clark Academy
The Ron Clark Academy is a learning community committed to the pursuit of knowledge, academic excellence, and global understanding through innovative instructional strategies that develop the intellectual, social, emotional, physical and creative potential of its students.

Tomorrow's Champions, Inc.
Tomorrow's Champions provides resources and opportunities for Atlanta's youth to participate in sports while also nurturing their development. The organization has awarded scholarships to athletes needing assistance with sports participation expenses, conducted summer sports camps for underprivileged and at-risk youth, assisted sports leagues in building stable programs and mentored youth athletes.

YES! Atlanta
YES! Atlanta alters the direction of the lives of "at risk" youth in metropolitan Atlanta through participation in a personal and academic development curriculum that empowers young people to commit to overcoming their obstacles and to become self-sustaining contributing members of their communities.

YMCA of Metro Atlanta-Villages at Carver Branch
The YMCA of Metro Atlanta is an association of volunteers, members and staff, open to and serving all, providing programs and services which develop spirit, mind, and body.
