The Atlanta Braves Foundation held the inaugural Diamond Gala, a star-studded night of casino games, entertainment, and silent and live auctions on January 23 at the Intercontinental Hotel in Buckhead. Braves players, coaches, alumni, and fans helped to raise more than $100,000 in one weekend at the Diamond Gala and AutographFest.
The nearly 500 people in attendance got the chance to mingle with Braves players, coaches, and alumni including Hall of Famer Hank Aaron, Chipper Jones, Derek Lowe, Brian McCann, Tim Hudson, Blaine Boyer, Buddy Carlyle, Matt Diaz, Jason Heyward, Brandon Jones, Casey Kotchman, Boone Logan, Greg Norton, Jeff Ridgway, Jordan Schafer, Roger McDowell, Brian Snitker, and Brian Jordan.
Diamond Gala ticket packages included Braves Bucks that were used to enjoy an evening of fun and stakes at casino games including Black Jack, Roulette, Craps, Texas Hold-Em Poker, and Slots at which Braves players served as dealers. Guests also had the opportunity to play games to win valuable prizes such as diamond jewelry, airline hotel and spa packages all to help raise funds and benefit the Atlanta Braves Foundation.
The following day fans were invited to attend AutographFest to meet their favorite players and get autographs at Turner Field. Braves players in attendance included Brian McCann, Derek Lowe, Tim Hudson, Kelly Johnson, Jeff Francoeur, Casey Kotchman, Jeff Bennett, Matt Diaz, Greg Norton, Blaine Boyer, Peter Moylan, Buddy Carlyle, Tommy Hanson, Josh Anderson, and Jason Heyward. Also attending were Braves manager Bobby Cox, and coaches Terry Pendleton, Roger McDowell, Chino Cadahia, and Brian Snitker, and Braves alumni including Hall of Famer Phil Niekro, Marquis Grissom, Pete Smith, Jay Howell, and Brad Clontz.
All proceeds from this marquis fundraising event benefited the Atlanta Braves Foundation and helped fund the community grants program.
