ATLANTA BRAVES
Breast Cancer Awareness Day
On Sept. 2, 2007, the Atlanta Braves along with Publix, Skirt! Magazine and Susan G. Komen for the Cure hosted the 2nd annual Breast Cancer Awareness Day at Turner Field. Women who have courageously battled breast cancer and survived were recognized during a pregame on-field presentation where they released pink balloons, symbolizing hope to find a cure for breast cancer. Prior to the ceremony, the survivors had the opportunity to hear from guest speakers Veronica Snitker, wife of Atlanta Braves third base coach Brian Snitker, Karyn Greer of WXIA-TV Atlanta, and Ericka Newsome, Director of Community Affairs for the Atlanta Braves.
Proceeds from the event benefited Susan G. Komen for the Cure Atlanta so they may further their grassroots efforts to save and empower lives, ensure quality care for all and continue their support of breast cancer research.
