In April of 2006, the Atlanta Braves and the Village at Carver Family YMCA celebrated the Grand Opening of the Atlanta Braves Baseball Academy, bringing an eight acre signature youth sports complex to the heart of the redeveloped Carver community near Turner Field.
The Braves Baseball Academy includes four baseball fields funded by The Atlanta Braves, Chipper Jones, John Smoltz, Mike Hampton and Brian Jordan, MLB's Baseball Tomorrow Fund and several local corporations. Additionally, the academy houses two pavilions, batting cages and a playground.
Through the Braves Baseball Academy, the Braves intend to make a lasting impact on the lives of hundreds of inner-city youth.
