National Hunger Awareness Day

What:
The Atlanta Braves, John Smoltz, Publix Supermarkets & the Atlanta Community Food Bank have partnered to promote National Hunger Awareness Day. Volunteers will be collecting canned food at entry gates. There will be pre-game festivities to highlight NHAD.

When:
June 7th

Food Collections - Monument Grove, Main Entry Gates & NW Entry Gates
Interviews - Monument Grove/Main Entry Gates
Pre-game Activities - on-field

Time:
Food Collection - 4:30 pm - 8:00 pm
Interviews - Will take place in Monument Grove, outside the Main Entry Gates @ 6:30 pm.
Pre-game Presentation - Atlanta Braves Pitcher, John Smoltz, Governor Sonny Purdue, Atlanta Community Food Bank Director, Bill Bolling, Mayor Shirley Franklin (tent.), Secretary of Agriculture, Mike Johanns (tent.), Atlanta Division Vice President of Publix Supermarkets, Bob Moore - approx. 7:15 pm
First Pitch by Governor Sonny Purdue - approx. 7:25 pm
Honorary Team Captains - tentatively scheduled as Mayor Shirley & Secretary of Agriculture, Mike Johanns - approx. 7:30 pm

About:
The first 1,000 people to donate canned goods or money will receive a Braves promotional item. All donors will receive a 2 for 1 Braves ticket offer.

The Atlanta Braves Youth Advisory Board and volunteers from Publix will be on hand to help collect the items.

Governor, Sonny Purdue, will throw out the ceremonial first pitch prior to the game.
